Sweet light.

Headshots for Brooke shot in my garage. On Tuesday morning. 11:00 a.m.

You can't buy light this good!

Black and White Damask fabric.....

All the different fabrics I bought in my search for that ONE PERFECT fabric.

Two in a canvas duckcloth

One in a reversible jaquard

And one in a flocked taffeta.

I shouldn't know this much about fabric.

Hmmmm, now what should I do with all this extra fabric?

Remember this little girl....

She has a baby sister now....

I couldn't get big sis to keep her eyes open for these shots. She insisted on closing them. It makes me laugh!!

Luckily, I got a few with her eyes open....

Such a sweet and beautiful baby, 10 days old....

Newborn photography ranks #1 as my favorite pictures to take.

Bridals are second.

7-10 year old girls are third.

Thought I'd share that.....just in case you were wondering:)

The pillows of death.

So let me tell you about my black and white damask pillows....

The experience to get them has been insanely time consuming, and way more expensive than I intended.

The fabric was SO hard to find. Mainly because I had to order it online, and you can't REALLY tell what fabric looks like online. So you order it. And then you get it, and it's not what you want.

So you order more from somewhere else.

And you don't like it...

So you order more from somewhere else. And you don't like it....

So you order more. And the story goes on.

Let me tell you how much money and time I spent on these pillows. AT LEAST $200. And I emphasize "AT LEAST" (and shudder to think what the "AT MOST" figure might be). Time spent, oh...I'd say about 24 hours.

Why so much time???

Well let me tell you.

After I spent a small fortune on the fabric I decided to NOT hire someone to make them for me (which was the original plan...sorry Anne from Libby Lane, I'm a loser!) I couldn't stand the thought of spending any more money on the pillows I was starting to hate.

SO I got the brilliant idea....I CAN DO IT MYSELF! It can't be that hard to sew some squares together right?

WRONG!

I won't go into all the painful details of my SAD SAD attempt at sewing. But basically I spent an ENTIRE DAY sewing 3 pillows. Ha ha!! AND I had to order MORE fabric because I cut the fabric wrong the first time and didn't have enough to finish the third pillow.

So here they are, my bloody expensive, black and white damask pillows.

I love them and I hate them.

Two words....

Absolutely Precious!

Almost finished

I just need to decide what pictures to hang on the wall now. Two HUGE gallery wraps on one wall, and 4 fine-art matted pictures on the other wall.

I can't decide which pictures to use.....so it's stalling me from finishing everything.

Love this picture. Love this couple.

I'm working on getting some new demo albums put together. I came across this picture and it made me smile.

It's live!

My portrait website is now up and running. Updated pictures, more informative text sections, and an added "family" portrait gallery has been added.

No music is being played on the site because, quite frankly, I can't think of any good music that will fit with all the different galleries on the website (everything from babies to seniors and models). So probably no music will be added.

And a BIO picture and write-up is needed on both websites, but I just need to get "prettied up" and make it over to this girl's house to take my picture. AND I need to think of something to write for my bio. I'm seriously stumped on that one.

Anyways, check out the new site HERE. Click on the "portraits" link once you get to the splash page.

What I've been doing the past week....

Working on the "studio revamp" project....
